SUSPENSION NOISE: PLEASE (RANDOM?)
As you fellows know, I bought a '97 Tib like two weeks ago.
So far, I installed the H&R Springs I had for a year on my previous 96 Elantra, the KYB GR-2 shocks, and the rubber pads between the MacPherson Assy and the spring, as long as the SR front strut bar. I'm also driving the same wheels and tires, which are 195/50 on 15"x6,5" Enkei wheels (about 39 or 4o offset, I'm not sure).
Whenever I make a hard cornering and hit a bump (I'm not talking a about a hole, I wouldn't do that to my Tib) even a small bump, there is a loud metal noise coming from the tire that hitted the bump, like a loud and dry "CLACK".
Can it be because of the strut bar? It seemed to fit perfectly, but I don't know what could be the problem.

But the sound is not like when tires rub, it's like metal-to-metal noise. I thought it could be the joint where the McPherson is attached to the Body on the Top, or Because I installed an Elantra SR front strut brace on a Tibby... Could it be knocking with the hood?
I don't know, I'm worried... because my tires are not big like to generate noises due to over size.

So...if you hit a bump that runs across the whole lane, do you hear "thak thak" as the front wheels hit it then the rear wheels? or do ONLY the front or ONLY the rear's make the noise?
Did you do the spring/strut switch/swap over yourself? Are you sure you tightened down the bolts on top of the struts (not the 3 bolts in the mounting plate, but the 1 bolt/nut on top of the strut). For the rears, did you remember to include that .75" tall washer/spacer?
If you jack the car up, and "wack" the tire with foot, can you reproduce the noise?
Check all of your bolts/nuts. Swaybars, brake line clips, struts, strut mount plates, etc..etc.. It's possible you just forgot to tighten something.

I did the swap at the dealer, but I'll check what you mention anyway. By the way, the noise comes only from the front wheels, both sides. If I cross a bump (even a medium one) in a straight line, theres no sound, only when the tire hits the bump at an angle, and at regular-high speed.
I took half day off when the dealer did the swap, and I was present watching very closely the job and I'm sure the tightened everything very well. (I have become friend of the shop manager and many mechanics due to my Hyundai "fanatique")
I'll let you know if I find something.
Thanks
