short shifter help.......
hey, I installed my sr short shifter yesterday and it was suprizingly easy (cutting the base plate was a biatch cause i don't have a dremel
). Anyways, I got it installed but sometimes there is a kind of a soft ticking sound coming from the shifter in 1st and 2nd gears. I know that it is not rubbing the base plate...any ideas as to what it could be?? Oh, also, my stock shift knob (2nd gen style)won't screw on right to the threads on the short shifter. I think this is because the shifter boot doesn't go down far enough to allow the knob to fully screw on.. Is there any way I can fix this, or should i just get a new knob? Thanx in advance.

Push the shifter boot down to screw the knob on properly...if that doesn't work, I guess you would have to get a new knob.
The "ticking" sound...does it happen all the time or just when you row through the gears. If it happens in time with engine vibration or road vibration, check all your bolts and washers to make sure they are tight, and also check the cables, to make sure they do not vibrate on anything.
