What I meant was check the vacuum hose itself... all it takes is a small pin hole and the hole will act like a bleed type boost controller and raise the boost.

And do like Random suggests, wire the wastegate open... that is put the car on a lift... take off the downpipe if you have to and physically wire it open... and then test it.

If it creeps above 5 psi then your wastegate is too small. I can talk to the guys at spin wheel to see if they will sell their cast manifold seperately if you want... It has a mount for an external wastegate... I believe a Tial unit.

What I don't understand is why I haven't heard of this from the other Alpine turbo owners.

u probably havnt heard of this from other alpine owners cuz most are not trying to run only 5psi... 2 uniq why dont u just get new pistons/rods and crank that bish up

also are u sure ur boost guage is accurate? when i had my fd my boost guage sucked

[QB]On the actutal Flange on the downpipe it was cut open so that the flapper can fully open up. >>>>>>He then welded a little box shape to the downpipeHmmm i think i know what your problem is. I recently read an article in the latest SCC and they were having a similar boost creep issue with their XS Engineering Turbo Toyota Matrix. That box shape is your problem. It needs to be a smooth bend in order to excavenge the amount of exhaust at high-rpm. Their Matrix's downpipe had a 90 degree angle (like a corner of a box) and that contributed to their boost creep problem. Try replacing it with a nice slope instead of a box shape. This is what it should look like....

The reason why i only want to run 5 or 6PSI is because im running stock compression and i didnt install the head spacer. If i had the coin i would purchase new Pistons Rods and other stuff that would be needed, but as i mentioned 5-7PSI would be perfect on stock internals and compression as i already have enough fuel to accomidate the Power!!!! smile.gif smile.gif

Random instead of removing the downpipe and manuely opening up the flapper, cant i just remove the little pin the holds the actuator to the flapper and see what kind of boost i get?
This will allow the flapper to be fully opened.
If it still creeps then what????? sad.gif sad.gif frown

Cheuk!!
CAn you find out if they have a manifold built for a Mitsu TD04 Turbo with an External wastegate attached to it,
Thanks!!

Random how about just porting the hole and install a 16G Flapper.Would that be the same.
Sorry i really dont understand if this would be Clipping as aposed to Porting smile.gif

You can either wire the flapper open by removing the downpipe, or just wire the actuator open.

If you STILl get boost creep with it 100% open...then your problem is that the wastegate is too small, or that it's location does not allow sufficent flow to keep the turbo from spooling. Some form of enlargement/relocation would then have to hapen.

You can also try the solution mentioned above from SCC. A properly designed wastegate area (like above) might solve your problem.

Random!!!
I will remove the little pin that holds the actuator to the flapper on Wednesday when i take it to the shop and see what happens.I should get VERY LITTLE BOOST,if not you mentioned that my wastegate would then be too small.
What do you mean by that?
Are you refering to the flapper door where the hole is that releases the air?
I had Alpine send me a P300 wastegate and the round canister is double the size of the original one taht came with the kit!

The size I was refering to is the actual hole, and butterly that closes over the hole.

If that is too small, you will get boost creep. However it may be the design of the area AFTER the wastegate that limits flow.

Like the SCC article states, a "box" section addition for the wastegate flow caused boost creep, they needed a "smooth" bump out for the wastegate flow to prevent the creep.

Sport Compact Car Toyota Matrix Turbo (XS Engineering)

I'm willing to bet a really fat twinky this is going help if not solve your problem 2 Uniq.

Thanks Rich
The thing is i also have to port out the internal wastegate and install a bigger flapper to rectify the problem and NOT just the downpipe.Though this article is very intresting and was confronting the same problem as im having.
THANKS MAN!!
Rich.
