Default Oil change at 70,000 question

Hey all. I just rolled 70 thousand miles. Changing my oil tonight. Is it a good idea to use an oil system cleaner/flush agent. I normally will put fresh oil in, run the engine for about 15 minutes, then drain it again and put new stuff in. Any comments or suggestions?

Also... wtf is that yellow crap on the edge of the fill hole?

I use a motor flush every other oil change. Our HLA's get gunked up rather easy. Some motor flush usually clears them out. (if they still make noise after 2 oil changes with motor flush...get them looked at/replaced).

I just rolled over 50000 miles, and no oil/lubricating related problems!

50,000 miles... 70,000 miles *lol*
That's nothing. My little beast of an Accent has 115,000 miles on it and the motor is still great.
I use motor flush like Random every second or third oil change. I get a little bit of ticking from the HLAs occasionally from a cold start, but it goes away once the engine starts to warm up.
I think it's a good idea as it helps keep gunk from accumulating in the little oil galleries in the engine.

Mouse... that yellow stuff looks like condensation that can accumulate in the oil. It's nothing to worry about, as it won't harm the engine.
Is it cold in Indiana right now?
The cause is usually cold weather where it takes a long time for the engine to warm up, or using the car for short trips. The condensation burns off when the engine is warm. A nice, long drive (like a few hours) will usually get rid of it.
Using a can of engine flush when you change your oil will help get rid of it too, I think.

Like I said, it won't harm the engine. That happens in every engine.

Whatever is onsale really. There is a product called "motor flush" that I like to use, simply because you get a FULL QUART of the stuff for about $3.99. Most of the other products are only 16 ounces or less for about the same price.

"B-12 Chemtool" is also a decent product. It works as a motor flush, and injector cleaner!

Just remember a few things when you use them. Always read the label and ONLY use it as the manufacturer suggests. If they say only put it in your engine for 5 mintues...DON'T run it for 15 with the stuff in there.

And NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER drive the car or put the engine under load with any kind of a "motor flush" product in the engine. The motor flush seriously reduces the lubicating ability fo the oil. If you run it to long (see above) or under load...you can EASILY score a bearing/do damage to things....

I've got 165,000 on my 93 Excel and it runs FANTASTIC still. No engine problems whatsoever and I still can get it up to 105 MPH now and then.
