Default OD light backwards

I get the "O/D Off" light when overdrive is on, and it goes off when I turn O/D off. Is there anyway I can switch it, or just disable it without having to get under the dash?

There's always the "electical tape" method.

1) Cut out a square of electical tape approximately 1/3" square.
2) Apply tape over light of annoyance.
3) Fuhgedaboudit.

that is so lame.

please notice the thumbs down icon.

I suppose I'll just go back to stock if I can't figure something out. The problem is the new shifter has a ground and a hot wire, the tib has three, one for the tranny, one for the light, and a ground. I've tried every combination and backwards is as close as I can get.

The overdrive button is simply a switch right? Maybe its hooked up in reverse. It has to be something to do with the switch.

I know exactly what is causing it. The light wire is connected to the ground for the shifter, since my new shifter only has two wires and the tibby has three. The only way for the overdrive and light to work was to hook it up so that the "OD off" light is lit when overdrive is on.

Gimme the weekend to dig through the manual and find out what the three wires do.

There should me a way to make it work.

I looked at the directions for a different automatic shift knob that also only has two wires. They didn't give a direct solution; they just said to leave the O/D wire disconnected. rolleyes.gif
Probably not the solution you're looking for, but it is an option, if all else fails.
