Default Not really a help but an Advice ?

i want to get rid of my 00 tib it has like 90000 miles on it and if start tuning it then it will break down and/or its not worth putting money into it....what do you guys think??? should i just try and pay it off in the next year and get a elantra gt or a 03 tib??? i cant decide i know that i should get a elantra gt just because its cheaper and has a little bit more utility to it...but a v6 and 6speed its just hard to pass up....so whats your thoughts?

My '97 Accent has like 115,000 miles on it and I just started doing stuff to it this past summer.
I don't have the cash (or the need) for a newer car yet, so I'm happy messing around with an older one for now. The other thing is that I want to start to seriously get into autocrossing, so if I wear the car out, it won't be so big of a deal with an older car, IMO.

If you're ready for a change, then I think you should go for it. I'd get the new Tib if you're into tuning, cos there seem to be more aftermarket parts coming out for it everyday.

Naw, there shouldn't be anything wrong with 'tuning' a higher mileage motor.

It should work just fine. I'd say save the money you would spend on the new car, and apply that to tuning your existing car.

its just i got wifey yapping in one ear that i should just pay it off and be done with it...she wouldnt mind me spending money on a car that had some utility behind....like four doors and would be able to fit car seats in and out! but to pay it off i still have like 12000 left ot pay off!! i carried over an existing loan when i bought the tib...i know it was dumb but hey its done and over with now....i eventually wanted to do some forced induction of some sort so could just replace all the gaskets and whatnot when s/c or turbo it....??

dude, if you still owe 12,000 on a car with 90,000 miles on it. Don't do ANY mods. Don't do anything but PAY OFF THAT LOAN.

Once you get it paid off, then decide what you want to do.

You are upside down on the car now (owe more than it's worth)...if you buy a 2003 elantra OR tibby...you'll end up just as upside down on the value of the car/payments.

Your best option right now is to pay off that loan as fast as possible. If that car get's totalled in an accident, you will end up paying money out of your pocket to put it in the junkyard. I've been there...done that, you don't want to go through that.

PAY OFF THE LOAN...NO MODS!

The only mods I would make would be when things start wearing out. i.e brake pads. air filter, tires(a good set of stock sized tires could make a huge perf. difference )

Definitely pay the loans first! On another note, my sister has a 1997 Tiburon that has over 130,000 miles on it, and it is still going strong(still has the original 1.8L engine). They've been racing it a lot in the past year and the engine shows no signs of dying any time soon.

Spatch!

i completely disagree with everyone who as posted here. within a week of getting my tib, i was researching the tranny swap. a lot of people i know, i'd say the majority, don't do s**t to their cars. they just get the oil changed and take it to the dealerships for the scheduled maintenance. however, they have problems with their cars. i figure as soon as something breaks, i'll just replace it with a better, aftermarket part. i realize that a lot of actual race parts aren't meant for longevity. however, i'll just have fun with my car. i plan on making it my project car. i guess it's whatever you want. i guess my post was pointless.
