Default new owner of used elantra

i just got a 96 elantra, and i'm actually new to the mod game. i was just wondering if anyone out there could help me out a little..... as in, what mods i should do first, what fits and what doesn't, and an idea of prices would be helpful too. nothing has been done to the car yet,, just a plain ol' stock 5-speed engine.

thanx tongue.gif

your best bet would be to save up for a turbo. it's a big chunk of change at once, but you'll spend a lot of money on n/a mods and get not too much power out of it.

If you want speed, save up for a turbo or go the nitrous quick fix.

If you are more show such as myself, go for a body kit.

If you want some good tunes, start with the stereo system.

There are many ways you can go, it depends on your preferences and which you want first or more badly. In any case, good luck and have fun. Just remember all that matters is what you like its your car. Expect the "its a hyundai" trash talk. It will happen sooner or later. We all get it rolleyes.gif

Since he has the 96 elantra...with the Mitsu motor in it, my first thing to do would be get a project motor, install low compression forged pistions/rods, and turbo that sucker.

Whoops, sorry madam. smile.gif I think most run 2.25 in. to 2.5 diameter exhausts. About turbo kits, please use the search function. There is a wealth of info about modding our cars.

K&N do a 57i Induction Kit for the Elantra & any good straight-through cat-back stainless aftermarket exhaust should show you worthwhile gains.
If you are likely to go turbo get 2.5" dia., otherwise 2.25"dia.
Enjoy!...cheers, Nick.
