Default installed BBTB and now have CEL

I have a 98 tib with the 2.0L and i just installed a 58mm TB. After about 50 miles my CEL came on. I haven't had a chance to run the codes but i was just wondering if anyone had an idea why this happened? Thanks

It could be a host of different things, without knowing the code, I can't really help.

unless something just broke at the same time which can happen or something was not assembled back together correctly im gonna throw out there that it could be your TPS. The one that came on my New TB was not any good. It must have been messed up in shipping or something...maybe just the humidity we have here in houston

Go to your local Autozone and have them read your code for you. It's free.

Had the codes ran and it came up "P0506 THE PCM HAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE RPM IS LOWER THAN EXPECTED FOR THE CURRENT ENGINE OPERATING CONDITIONS." What exactly is the PCM? My car has been idling higher than normal since i put the TB on, the throttle body is off of a Tiburon and i had a machinist bore it to 58mm. Please help. thanks Also, is it hurting to drive it like this or should reinstall the original TB? Thanks again.

Sounds like you just need to adjust your idle.

Do a search on "idle" and you'll find the procedure.

What is the ideal rpm for it to be idling at? I've got it set to about 1200 but the light came back on. Thanks

1200 is a little high to idle. Right around 800-850 should be plenty on your tib. At least that is fine for my 99 tib with a BIM and a 58mm TB. If anyone thinks it needs to be higher than that will they explain to me why so i can see about adjusting mine

Thanks, i will set it to that and reset my CEL and hopefully that will fix my prob. I'll post my mods just to make sure that idle will be fine,

i have a 4-2-1 header, high flow cat, full exhaust, k&n cold air intake, 58mm TB and removed the waffle thing in my MAF(like that would matter).
