Default High/Fast Idle after turbo....HELP

Hi,

Thanks in advance.

I've just installed a Toyota CT12 turbo on my Accent LC.
Everything runs fine except for high/fast idle.
The rpm will start raising til 2000 +/-, it will idle lower at 1200 when the aircon kick in.
This morning(day 2), the idle seems to be better...it still fluctuate between 900 to 1600 but much lower that yesterday's.
How can I test to see if the idling mode is on with the ODBII cable?

Some things that I've noticed.

1. the vacuum seems to be less at idle (from 20 InHg"NA" to 18 InHg"Turbo")
Could it be a vacuum leak? or is it normal to have less vacuum after turbo?

2. tried adjusting the idle screw, it seems that the factory setting is already at the lowest. Approx 0.445V from the TPS, can't seems to get the throttle plate to close any tighter. Will be taking out the TB and the ISA to check.

3. the air flow reading at idle from the SAFC is higher, (6% "turbo" compared to 3-4%"NA")

Can someone help?

Things that i have tried/done
1. Loosen the accelerator cable
2. "Loosen" the idle screw
3. Checked most of the vacuum connection
4. Reduce the amt of fuel at idle 5% (SAFC)

Things to do
1. check TB and ISA (i think TPS and MAF is ok)
2. any other suggestions?

the problem is your turbo. It is spinning, litterally forcing air into the engine, even at idle. You will have to close the throttle plate 100%, then rely on the idle air bypass controler to do the best it can to control the idle. I have the same problem with my Alpine turbo. At idle, I only have 15Hg, rather than the stock 20Hg of vacuum. The idle goes up and down as the IAB tries to equalize the idle at the stock 800 RPM. It eventually stettles down to 1200 rpm. That's the lowest I've ever been able to get it.

Hi Random,

The strangest thing happened...my idle is now stable...but still have occasional stalling at low rpm...the idle rpm can now be adjusted by the idle screw...and like you mentioned...the vacuum is lesser due to the spooling turbo...

the turbo can only boost up to 5psi...and now i have difficulties reaching 5000-6000 rpm....the engine just "hangs" at 4500rpm when i floor it...
detonation maybe...
