When to get thermostat today. No one has it. Has to be ordered for tomorrow. What is a water outlet gasket? They had a housing gasket but asked if I wanted the water outlat gasket. Also I was wondering if the thermostat itself has a rubber ring around the outside as they said it doesn't. Is that right? If so what keeps coolant from passing by it the housing and its gasket?

got the thermostat and housing gasket but still am wondering if it is worth replacing. The hvac controls all work as they should. The top rad hose and lower rad hose feel quite hot, as well, both the in and out lines to the heater core feel just as hot as the rad hoses.
What does anyone think?
Just don't want to waste my time replacing the thermostat if I don't have to. But know somethings are trial and error.

Which hoses would cycle? The upper and lower rad hoses or the in and out to the heater core or both?
If there is corrosion around the thermostat, since there is no rubber seal could I put gasket sealer around the edge of the thermostat when its in place and wait for it the dry before putting sealer around the housing and bolting it on?

The radiator hoses. The heater hoses should be hot all the time.
There shouldn't be enough corrosion to need that, just clean it up and use a new gasket & a thin coat of sealant on both sides of the gasket. Put the gasket on and bolt it up while the sealant is still wet. Wait a while before adding coolant.
