Default clueless

I have a 95 accent with a 1.5L, 12 valve engine. I have had some great cars in the past, but this is my favorite. It never breaks down, and it is just fun to drive. However, I would like to get a little (20-30) more horse power out of it.
I should also mention that I am not rich, but I am closer to being rich because of this car.
Just please remember that I am clueless when it comes to modern car talk, so please spell it out for me.
Thanks

picard,
welcome to the boards. You will find most of your answers in one of the other forums here. Try the General Performance and Engine mod ones first.

Try searching on CAI, cold air intake, throttle body, and exhaust. A lot will come up, but sort through them and that should get you started. 20 to 30 is a bit much for naturally aspirated (i.e. no turbo, super, or nitrous), but with a bit of luck you may get there.

I have a tib, so I can't help with specific brands or models for the Accent, but a forum search will get you started. There are a lot of really knowledgable people here.

Here's the search link (also on top of the page):

Good luck,
AC

glad to you've joined us. i think after you read through the board, you'll notice that the only way to really get power out of 4 cylinders is through forced induction (turbo, supercharger, nitrous). the basic bolt-ons (intake/headers/exhaust/big bore throttle body/portmaatched intake manifold) will give you about 8-12 wheel horsepower, and you'll spend as much money on that stuff as you would for custom turbo setup. the exhaust will help you with a turbo, as it'll help the turbo breathe and spool. if you're looking for 20-30 extra hp, i'd say go with an exhaust and nitrous. spraying that little nitrous will not hurt your engine.

::edit::
i know how you feel, being new to this. if you have any questions, just email me, and i'll be glad to give you what advice/info i can.
