Hey guys, I was driving down the freeway at about 65 MPH, I had cruise control on and the car was in fifth gear (I have a 5-speed manual, 98 Tib FX) Anyways, all of a sudden, the car did a sudden jerk, like a sudden slow down, kinda like when you downshift and don't compensate w/ the gas, anyways, I immediately looked down at my gauges, and Mr. CEL was staring me right in the eyes. Then about a second or two later, it shut off and nothing sounds out of the ordinary. When I exited the freeway, I stopped on a side road, rolled down my windows, did a little revving and nothing sounds different, everything sounds the same. Could it have just been like a piston misfiring or something? Or you think it's something I should have looked at. Like I said, the CEL went off and everything sounds normal.. I just dunno.. thanks for any help!

 

Sounds like the ECU hiccuped. You either had a glitch in fuel, spark or air delivery there for a moment.

Just wondering...did the cruise shut off or did it stay on?

 

It stayed on... I'm at 34k miles and I don't think the plugs and wires have ever been changed, been meaning to do that too.. Was pretty damn scary goin 65 and yer car jerks on ya.. eek.gif
