stretch before and after. Before reduces the chances of injury. You should work other muscle groups. If you're sore, then your muscles have not finished rebuilding themselves bigger after your last workout. Wait till they heal.

Stretching is important both before and after. After your workouts, consume healthy protein to speed up the recovery process. I make protein shakes (Isopure or GNC Wheybolic - half the serving size) and consume within 30 minutes after finishing a weight lifting workout. Your muscles are tired and exhausted and will soak up the protein. IMO, protein shakes are good for getting a quick source of protein if you aren't able to eat some good grilled/baked chicken, but the serving sizes aren't necessary - my Isopure has 50g of protein in 2 scoops, I usually use one scoop.

I personally believe protein shakes help me recover much quicker after a big exhausting workout. I prefer to eat a healthy chicken dinner or a few eggs

It depends on the soreness. Unless it's a "something is broken in there" kind of sore, just go easy on the next workout. If it gets worse, THEN lay off altogether.
