Default FDA to put corpses on cigarette packages

Corpses, cancer patients and diseased lungs: These are some of the images the federal government plans for larger, graphic warning labels that will take up half of each cigarette package.

we had that a while, not worked, as who looks at the packet anyway? Just a quick glance as you buy, thats it.

I fail to understand where Uncle Sam gets off telling the cigarrette companies what decorations to put on their packages.

Plus it won't do anything to deter smokers. If you've bought it, you're smoking, not looking at the box.

Next we should put embryos and tragic car accidents on beer and whiskey bottles.

Don't know if its the same for you, but the UK government creams so much tax off cigarettes, far more than normal purchasing tax, so they do these token gestures to get people to stop, knowing if they do all stop they'll loose £millions in taxes. So they want to be seen to be condemming it, yet realy want people smoking.

I think the taxes have skyrocketed on cigaretets.

I don't smoke - what's the going price for a pack/carton of cigarettes for some of you (and post locations since it differs from city/state)?

Federal tax is now $1 (since 2009)

STATE TAXES:

http://www.ncsl.org/default.aspx?tabid=14349

New York has a $4.35 tax ON TOP of the federal tax.

I was surprised to see California is only $0.87, but I guess people out there don't smoke "cigarettes" since pot is now legal.

ugh, the southern states have the lowest tax. That's where it should be taxed the most. Miss., TN, KY, SC, Bama, GA, LA, all in the lower 15

I although this looks like a neat idea, I say let smokers go about their business. Most smokers I've met deserve what's coming.
