Ape Traction Bars Gb (intro Price)
Last week we redid the bar. Tom started making production models, but I had him stop production because I don't feel everyone is going to be fully happy with the adjustment from the original design.
This weekend he is making the final one, a compromise between the remake and the original design. He said he might actually try to redo alot of it if needed. But right now this is where we stand.
Sorry for the delay, but I caused the delay this time cause I'm coming at this from the consumer standpoint. I just wasn't 100% happy with the change as I was with the original. Tom wasn't happy with the change either... but it had to be done to help the clearance issue. Basically, I got a little wheel hop in certian situations, that I didn't get any with on the original design. But it's going to have to be a compromise between having too little ground clearance and having the same clearance as stock. Bringing down the pivot point a little back to near where it was should aliveate the issue.
But after this weekend... I'm going to APE around 7am... We will be done with the bar and it will be produced. There are a few people who will get the first couple that are made because of a time constraint for meets, etc... Like JonGTR who has the meet end of next week.
Bar is basically done, just need one more adjustment and me to test it a bit, then they will be built/sent off to you guys.

Wow, this was even news to me. I'll call Tom today and see whats up as far as parts ready to ship, but it looks as though any meets in Sept. are out of the question. Gotta love R&D. At least you guys know you're getting a part that really works as it says it does instead of something that sells regardless of performance.

Sorry for the delay guys.
<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">APE Traction Bars for production are a GO!</span>
Tom will be starting production on the bars. The only delay is going to be doing the powercoating. He said it takes a few days to a week to get stuff back from powdercoating.
I do want to let you all know this.
The Traction Bar DOES NOT 100% eliminate wheel hop!
This is because of the following factors:
- Traction of your tires/environmental. If you loose traction from hard acceleration, you will probably get a little hop-- but nothing near as bad as stock.
- If you have stock shocks and the tires break loose, you will get some hop. This is because the shocks/springs are made to go up and down. If you do loose traction, your wheel is going to hop.
(PLEASE NOTE: I did experience some wheel hop, but this might not be your case. I have 82,000 miles on my stock struts. 60,000 of them being with the Eibach Lowering Springs. So I might be getting wheel hop just from old struts. However, the wheel hop I got was not sloppy like it is without the bar. Meaning the wheels were bouncing straight up and down and not all over the place like you experience stock.)
Tom recommended KYB/Koni or some form of upgraded aftermarket struts that will slow wheel travel going up and down.
What the bar does:
It keeps the wheels from doing a Toe-In/Out effect, which contributes to wheel hop. Keeps the wheels in place to make sure it is moving straight up and down on it's travel and not going all over the place.
Things you can expect:
- Smooth Burnouts (No high RPM wheel hop/skipping)
- Improved Lauches (Big reduction in wheel hop)
- Improved Cornering (It's keeping the wheels aligned, so your cornering will be more stable and precise)
- Less Body Roll/Flex (Putting a big 'ol bar across the front will reduce that body roll/flex when cornering)
- More precise steering
- Better handling
- Stock Clearance - Well.. sits about 1 cm or less lower than the Engine Cradle. So if you bottom out, you'll bottom out on the Big bar that runs across the front instead of the engine cradle.
- Bragging rights (Look what I got that you don't!)
The Traction Bar is Adjustable. However, you don't want to put too much stress on it because it's ment to kept things in place, not change it.
It's made of.... I dunno. It's a beast of a bar. Super tough. I've beaten the hell outta it, and it's really only scratches to the paint.
So it's in production. I know you guys have been waiting forever for it, but we really needed to test things and make sure it will do what we were expecting it to do.

PM blacktibs to see if you can still get in. Might be too late though since this was a preorder group buy. Only a few could get them.
