I havent paid attention lately.. but last time i checked i had a bit of rust, which worries me... also the bolts and washers seemed to be gethering rust.... is this something you have seen frequently with jt kits?
When you have a single braket holding up your door (in the tiburons case weighs a butt load) the LAST thing you want is rust...
SO im either looking at two options, removing my kit and repainting it, maybe going even more ghetto than now and dipping it in chrome,.... or get a new kit.
My biggest concern is the struts, and secondly the finish and durability of the hinge.

No, i hadnt heard of rust. But it must be something that happens, which is why they decided to dip these hinges in some kind of gold material. They said it was to make sure it wouldnt rust.
You shouldnt have to worry about our struts, especially if youre in california. I havent had any returns on the 1 gen tiburon struts, and the ones we did have returns on for the civic were in crazy eastern cold climates during the winter...

It's called alodine.
It's a type of conversion coating to the oxide on the surface of the substrate.

Used specificly to prevent saltwater and other fluid corrosion of aluminum.

I have the SR kit, and there has not been any problems with the struts or durability so far ( installed since April). I have left the doors up all day at shows, indoors and in the wind, and there has been no problems. The only thing I don't like is how far the doors come out before they actually go up; looks weird when your parked next to someone with a VDK that goes straighter up. I'll blame it on the inside door panels though wink1.gif Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of the kit, at least so far. I will make sure to take tons of pics at Hyundai Sunday to show folks the hinges and such.
