Default wire grounding kits

I had my car broken into 3 weeks ago.
They took my stereo stuff, now that's the bad news.

So I took the power wire(4 guage) that goes to the amp.
I didn't want to just throw it away so I cut it up and made one of those homemade grounding wires kits.

I wired one from the chassis(sanded the paint off) to the engine block and another from the chassis(sanded the paint off) to the intake manifold.

I thought that it would do nothing but, you know how when we have our cars turned on, then turn on our lights, the RPMs drop a little?
Well after I installed it didn't drop anymore.
maybe I should say drip, cause it's not really a drop, just a little tiny drip.

I removed the wires and low and behold, the rpms did drop.

Maybe it was just my car with the problem but if your rpms drip as well, then this is a really cheap mod you can do.
Of course I can't tell if there is a horsepower increase but it did fix that little light/rpm problem.

I also did this mod.

Home made of course.

here are some pics of where i connected the wires. I was able to use the stock battery connector by drilling a hole on the side of it and then attaching the ground wires to it with a butterfly nut. smile.gif

As far as performance goes, the most important connection is the one immediately next to the coil packs... this will prevent any power starvation under load... usually peak torque is improved.

Butterfly nut !

Hrmmm,...
I've gotta find some time to do this!
I was also thinking of useing a couple of ground straps from the '03 Tiburon. You know that braided thing that they have!

Wonder if that would work just as good?
It would look kewler too!

How do you have the wires arranged? In parallel or in series?

The wire from the fire wall to the IM is in series with a wire going from the point on the IM to somewhere else...can ya give us a hint? And obviously all the wires going to the neg. terminal on the batter are in parallel but where are those wires going????

Do you interior lights dim too when you have the windows all the way up or down and you try to (respectivly) put them up more or down more?

That's normal. When the window's electric motor "stalls" it draws a lot more current from the alternator. That is what causes the dimming, nothing to worry about, unless it causes the car to stall or starts popping fuses.

Ah but these kits people buy run everything in 'series'. It may have to do with the fact that running wires in parallel splits current whereas in series current will not 'divide' as it follows one path. Just food for thought.
