This may come across as a stupid question but do people who live near the ocean have to worry about their cars rusting, due to salt that may accumulate in air mist from the water?

You would litterally have to park within the first block (maybe 2-4 blocks on a windy day) of OCEAN to have the problem. Ocean spray (with salt in it) doesn't travel very far. Do you see rusted road signs/other metal bits more than a block from the ocean? not really.
I was 1/8th of a mile a way from the ocean, and I never had any problems.

^I can attest to that. It'll only get on your car once if there's some massive storm producing a lot of waves and mist. Otherwise, even small amounts would be washed away by the ever-changing weather patterns of a beach.
^^yes unfortunately,( the orange tib never see,s that though),but all my other rides are rusting., fog travelling over the ocean to land sucks too, ..wish I lived somewhere where I won't have 4 feet of snow also in a few months.....rust all depends on where you live.

I thought so. Brother you're blaming the wrong source of salt. Unless you live basically ON the beach, it's not the salted air killing your cars, it's the salted ROADS.
^^ true, ^^, but, I have family in PEI, where sand not salt is used, and all the cars are also rust buckets...
