Hello. I am not a mechanic or a tuner, but nonetheless this seems like the best forum to ask a few easy questions in, as you guys are really knowledgeable.

I am looking to buy a stock used Hyundai Elantra Touring or a used Kia Rondo to use as a daily driver, and ideally go 200K+ miles during its lifetime.

I've done some research online, and it seems that the Beta II engine is the most reliable, much more so than the Nu engine. Correct?

Which USA Elantra Touring model years had the Beta II engine? 2009 and 2010 only? How would I visually check to make sure it's a Beta II before buying the car?

Is it correct that the Kia Rondos in 2009 and 2010 did not have the Beta II? What about their V6 engines? Which engine is that (Mu?), and is that engine any good?

I thought this would be a simple question and after a week I'd have a couple responses. Bummer.

 

I believe all of the US Elantra Touring models (2009-2012) had Beta II engines, and were mechanically all the same. I have a 2011 SE, and my girlfriend had a 2012 GLS - they both had the same 2.0L Beta II engine. No idea about the Kias though.
