What octane do you all use in your cars? I use 89 which is like mid grade. Are there any benefits to using higher stuff if you dont have a turbo?

Higher octane just means its got a lower spontaneous combustion point. Google it.

But no, it will not help you in any fashion whatsoever unless your vehicle manufacturer requires it or you've built up the motor to have high compression.

Just use 87, no point in running 89. You are paying extra for nothing.

Yeah, what they said. Plus, higher octane gas has lower potential energy because of the octane additives.

Use what your manual says. (most likely 87)

I use cheap stuff but once I finish my SR20 swap I'll be using higher octane.
