Default How to keep tools from rusting

My tools and box are in the garage and ive noticed some surface rust on some of them. I have a couple thousand dollars in tools and hate to see them get rusty. Does anyone know of any tricks to keep rust from forming. I know people say just use them or WD 40 but i dont want my tools being greasy.

If you spray then with WD and then let them sit they will dry off and leave a protectant film.

Depending on The finish a good Metal polish may do the trick though some tools aren't polish friendly.I should be able to give you a better answer , I worked at Snap On for some time , My Dad retired from there after 30+ years and my daughter currently works there.

lol plasti dip . Thats true it would work. But yes WD40 is it. If you dont want them really wet spray a paper towel and wipe it on.

If you use your tools and your hands are greasy, they stay oiled up. If you constantly keep all traces of oil from tools that are not straight-up stainless steel, they will rust. It's not a showcase, it's a toolbox. Leaving a little oil and grease on tools means they last longer and work better because they are not rustee.
