actually "warming" up street tires by burning out leaves you with less traction than you started out with. so unless you have drag slicks then you have no reason to.

Yeah, that they are Hootie, hell, I'd lock this post if it wasn't on topic still. rolleyes.gif

The ONLY time burnouts are cool is when the car is pushing 500hp to the rear wheels. There's something about the sound of a big block motor with straight pipes and scorching tires that sends a chill up my spine. *LOL*

Which is why I drive around the water at the track... but I have to agree with Hootie, it's so much fun to see/hear the cars.

Oh yeah...that's not the ONLY time...
You forgot about the twin engine Tib!!!

Yeah but thats not fun when you're right behind it at the drag strip waiting to go next...all those pebbles and burnt rubber smoke going into your lungs and worse, denting your car. sad.gif

I swear the guys at the drag strip here hates Scoobies, I'm next in line...then no, they allow the Pro Gas bracket guys to go right before me. Arrg. Theres so many rocks flying around I think next time that happens, I'll just jump right in front of the car and hug it to prevent more scratches.

what i smoking the tires going to accomplish for you? you don't have enough power to even do it, so you have to come to the board and ask. seriously, it's neat to do it a couple of times, but then WHAT'S THE POINT? like zman says, good tires spin less (better traction). go buy some 155/60/what ever size rims you have and then try it. btw, you have an auto. spend more time worring about what you need to do to swap the tranny (like my sig?) than spinning the tires. stock factory autos don't like awkward starts. and awkward start is anything other than letting off of the brakes and applying throttle while the car has been in drive the whole time.

Typical.
Someone asks a question, I answer.
Others come here and bash the question.

I tried to stay nice...
He has an auto, I do too, for reasons of our own.
Get the f*** over it. You wanted/did a manual swap, good for you. Want a dam cookie? See the abuse I've given my auto tranny over the past 5 years on my '97 before you say you know what these autos can handle. How long have you had your car?

Sorry everyone, turbulence took this thread and changed it from a burnout topic to a tranny one... please close now.

I hear ya Josh, if he'd wanted a manual he'd have bought one...would've been cheaper too. rolleyes.gif
