Beta Accent down
I killed my motor, or at least put it on the path for death. I let the oil get low, 2.5 qts low and now there is a loud tick coming from the bottom half of the engine. My boss heard the noise and believes it may be a bad connecting rod or cracked piston skirt. Gunna have to pull it out and tear it down for inspection. I think I might just get another beta 2 and swap it in. This sux... I need websites that sell aftermarket performance parts for are cars, anyone know any?

The beta's will chew the main bearings quick if you run low on oil. If you has the balls you can switch them in the driveway. You might... might get lucky and itll run for a good bit. Someone on EXD was switching them out about every 30k or so after that happened to his stuff.

Some more info to add to the ticking noise. I can not hear the tick when the engine is cold, nor can i hear it in idle when its warm. It does not tick when down shifting to use the tranny for slowing the car. I only hear it when holding a steady spead or accelerating. Hopefully I will begin pulling the engine out of my car today.

Power steering an ac lines unhooked, all fluid drained, all the electrical is unplugged, shifter and throttle cables are free, vacuum and heater core hoses free, battery an tray, intake, strut bar, radiator and fans out. Only thing left to unhook is the exhaust and mounts. Need to get the harmonic balancer bolt off, anyone remember if its regular thread or reverse thread on that bad boy?

Gunna pick up a block and gasket set instead. Looks like im gunna be at about 300 or so on this. Also I did find something interesting for all you people grinding in second gear. When I disconnected the shifter cables I had a bushing at the end of one cable with major slop in it. Believe it was the cable that controls the left to right throwing of the shifter. Maybe part of the reason I gring in second gear so im gunna replace it and fill the tranny with redline mt90 and see if the problem is corrected. This might also explain why for a couple years now I sometime have problems getting into reverse an first gear, but mostly reverse.
