Average length of ownership
What would you guys say is the average length of ownership for most car owners? Do you think 6-7 years is too high, or is it more like 3-4?
My average is two years... But, I've never had a new car until the GC.
I don't know how solid this is, but a quick search pulled it up.

I think it depends on the audience. Us car guys, I would assume longer. I want to build a car and enjoy it, not trade it in for something new after dumping $5k into it. My last Hyundai lasted 10 years. I expect this one to last just as long.
I know a lady who trades in every 2 years for the most current Maxima. She's done that for the last 15 years, gets a new Altima or Maxima every 2 years because she enjoys having the new model. I couldn't imagine dumping $5k into a car just to take another $5k+ loss on depreciation. I'm in it for the long haul.

I keep mine until they
-get taken off the road by the police
-something major breaks
So my beaters/DDs tend to come and go, but it isn't like you take major depreciation losses on $500 cars anyways
