My car feels faster at 70-80% throttle versus WOT. Is it because Hyundai's come rich from the factory and by going WOT, it floods the engine with fuel? dunno.gif

Maybe that's the sweet spot for your car where the air flow is maximized and flows most efficiently.

I don't know if this applies in the physics realm, but when pouring liquid from a 2 liter bottle, the liquid pours faster if air is able to enter while liquid exits. If you simply turn it upside down, it has to take gulps of air which slow it down. If you pour it so only 80-90% liquid is coming out of the hole, it goes faster. Same concept as pouring gas out of a container that has a vent on the end.

dunno.gif i'm just talking out of my ass. don't know if it's really true.

I know what you mean, back in the NA days it seemed like if i wasn't over 4k and i stomped it that it would just make noise and not move. I do believe it might have something to do with factory afr's. Many have claimed "dead spots" between 3k-4k, which i have felt, just not every time.

I used to just go 70% throttle till 4k, then WOT to redline and it would pull the whole time.

simple way to figure it out

pull out the throttle adjustment screw to 80%

then take it down the track

reverse what you did back to normal

and take it to the track

if you run a faster time then you know your answer

i bet its all in your head

Oh sh*t dude... You have a serious problem. It sounds like your throttle activated nitrous is turned off. I had that happen to me before. I flipped the switch and the last bit of the pedal worked perfectly.

Seriously though. Clean your MAF.

It's noticeable on most cars when you are on the freeway running with your rpm's low like around 1,500 then floor it and the car bogs down, but if you back off to say 60% throttle, the car will start picking up speed faster.

That would make it an operator thing, not an equipment thing. Operating an engine at WOT when it's not ready for the air is not going to make it go like stink.
