Actually, i'm not trying to be a deek, just trying not to mess anyone up, but that wouldnt help out very much. As you can see by my signature i know a bit about car audio. I've been selling it installing it or just plain into it for about 8 yrs. And about the only thing that adding a 2nd battery would do would be to give the alternator something else to charge. It may last a little longer, but your alt. MAKES the juice, the batteries only store it.

Look at it this way, simple math:
1 Battery setup
Alt. Output = 10
Battery storage = 10
Draw from electrical equipment = 25
Obviiously you're going to run out of power

2 Battery setup
Alt output = 10
Battery storage = 20
Electrical drain = 25
you're still gonna run out of power, just takes a bit longer

The reason you see guys with all those batteries is because at competitions you cant have your system running or at shows to gime them extra play time.

You have to increase the power going into the system to completely fix the problem. caps and batteries help but only to a certain extent. I just didn't want to see you wast any money.

Also caps and batteries do help, but only for short bursts. They work for systems that are mildly overpowering your alt. It just gives it a little backup to help it catch up in between beats

if you add a second battery, you need a better alternator, w/o having to go that route, you should use caps until you get those.

having 2 batteries will be more work for you alternator, hence needing a better alternator with 2+ battery setups. lots of batteries = being able to play your system for a while longer with the car off, theres a huge article on this at carsound.com i think, in the tutorial sections.

best starting thing to do is upgrade the wires from your alt to the ground, alt to the battery, and the battery to the ground in 0 guage cable.

dj_dlrm...I'd suggest getting a bigger amp wink.gif check out my signature. My 2000x alone draws around 240-300 and i'm getting a 2nd one this spring lol. They're 2000wRMS(VERY UNDERRATED AT THAT) each and i'm hookin them both up to 1 sub. heh heh heh

But seriously the amp's current draw is with the amp maxed out big time distortion and playing a sine wave, and i dont know anyone that goes around blasting a sine wave all day. Realisticly you only draw about half current with normal music.
