2001 Tib to 2001 Elantra
Not really for sure which forum this should go in, so I put it here. I'm looking to get a 01 Elantra, and I was just wondering if any of the parts on my Tib are going to be interchangable with the Elantra. I'm pretty sure the shifter isn't, but I was mostly wondering about the headers and exhaust, and the CAI. I don't know if I want to take the coilovers off or not yet because I don't know if the stock struts will fit back on.

2001 elantra is more closely related to the 2003 tibby I4, than the 2001 Tiburon.
The 2001 Elantra got the beta2, returnless fuel system, 185cc injectors, MAP, and a different tranny mount system. The suspension was also revised.

to add,
the '01 Tib is based on the chassis of the '98?-2000 Elantra(Avante)
The 2003 - up Tiburon is based on the 2001 Elantra (Avante XD) Chassis.
Of course different spring ratings and suspension specs are had between the two. Although they do bolt up with minor mods.

vdub....actually the 03 tib sits on the sonata plateform...hence why it can fit a v6 and weighs more then the older tibs. the guys over at elantraxd.com said that the b&g short shifter will work on a 01 elantra...check over there...they have a lot of useful info!
No, the GK is based on a modified Elantra XD platform, hence why the 2.0L G4GC is the base engine in the Tib and not the 2.4L. Intake is not the same due to MAP based system while 2001 Tib has MAF, you may get the AOS intake to fit though. The shifter would depend on which one you have, they changed the shifter half way through 2001. IS yours the lever or the ball type? If it is the ball type it is changeable. I do not know about the exhaust, I too have wondered what would need modified to fit the Tib exhaust on the Elantra. It looks like they have similiar bends. Header will work.

the tib exhaust fits on the elantra, up to the back bumper, but the rear bumper area is different. That's the area that causes "fitment" issues.

hehee, I'm one of the mods over there bro, unfortunately your incorrect as Supr says.vdub....actually the 03 tib sits on the sonata plateform...hence why it can fit a v6 and weighs more then the older tibs. the guys over at elantraxd.com said that the b&g short shifter will work on a 01 elantra...check over there...they have a lot of useful info!
oh and I'm not going to get into whether or not the elantra can fit the V6 evil_gri where's Autobot-mwahaha moon j/k
So the headers and exhaust will fit with a little work? That's good. The only other parts I was really worried about are the coilovers. Will they bolt up, or is it a totally different suspension between the two?
