The suspension is different. Tien has a set of coilovers that fit the 03 Tib. They might fit the 01 Elantra with some minor modificiaton.

03 Tib is based on 01-03 Elantra. In fact I could not find any differences between the cradles with the exception of the durometer of the rubber mounting points and the part numbers used.
The 03 Tib exhaust is shorter than the 01-03 Elantra exhaust. I would look a little closer at the old tib exhaust to see how close it is but I know modifications will be needed.
The 03 Tib and 01-03 Elantra use the identical rear suspension with exception of the spring height and strut damping and the lower spring perch on the 03 Tib is 3/8 inch higher than the 01-03 Elantra. The front gets trickier, the front sway bars are different and not interchangable unless you have the right struts or control arms to compliment the mounting location. To be exact if you want an 03 Tib front sway bar in the 01-03 Elantra you will need to also use the 03 Tib front struts to be able to mount the sway bar. The only problem is you loose the mounting tabs for the brake lines. The front upper strut mounts on a 03 Tib vs a 01-03 Elantra are totally different and are not interchangable. The Tib upper mounts have a 3/8 shorter assembled height than do the 01-03 Elantra. Also the Tib mounts will not fit inside the apron of the 01-03 Elantra without rubbing the metal on the inside of apron. With coilovers however the mounts are not used so it should not matter. That being said the coilovers for an 03 Tib will most likely fit the 01-03 elantra. We are still waiting for someone to actually do it to get a 100% yes.
The older Tib uses a smaller diameter rear coil and will not fit the new Elantra or Tib. The front coils on the old Tib are still the same diameter as the new cars. There are actually a couple spring companies selling the old model springs for the new cars not realizing that they are wrong. The rear springs do not fit the lower perch correctly. I know Intrax is one company I forget the other.
