yeah, this bumper will be able to take more beatings than any kit bumper out there before it would even crack or show signs that it was grafted together.. it would take a huge pothole to crack the FG on this bumper, and at that point even if you had the stock bumper you would be needed new paint and a lil body work.

looks great man, but i would suggest one thing though. Instead of completely relying on the fiber glass putty aonly you should go over it with atcaul fiber glass mat. What your using will work but the moment you hit a bump too hard or scrap the front end (which WILL happen) its gonna crack. Bad ass job thus far man!

^^^ i agree, but i would only use the FG matting on the back for now, since it wont have to look good but itll give it the structural support itll need to prevent it from cracking.

Are you going to drill the rivets out? In time the body work will sink in a bit, did you also use the glue while you were riveting? I found that to make it even more stronger, you can actually as you riviet see the glue coming, like if you put it on before you started rivieting...And if you do drill them out fill the rivet holes in with the glue/epoxy.....I plan on doin this conversion as soon as I get a gk bumper 02.gif

Wow, this post got big all of a sudden.

Anyway, thanks to all for their kind posts.

For the FG matting i will do it on the back part of it. Today i had a bussy day and couldnt do anything to the bumper, wasent here at my house durring the whole day. The good thing is i bought my sander/polisher and more sanding paper, different grits, to do the sanding. It was a pita to try and shape it by hand.

The rivets i only rivet them in, didnt know i had to put the epoxy first then the rivets... i was thinking of glueing the whole back of it and i think it would be enough. I have Auto Tech classes tomorrow after work so i'll do it over there, takeing all my stuff with me, FG, Buffer, Sanding Paper, Epoxy, and i'll buy the FG matting before classes when i ask for the gun for another day.

Oh, and the rivets i'm not going to drill them out, i'll just sand them flush, i want that extra confort that I can think there is other stuff holding the bumper together. tongue.gif

Thanks again all!!

If I do make this bumper, it wont have to be nearly as strong as you've made it, because it'll just go right into a mold. Either way, even if I have 100 of these things in stock, yours will out perform them any day of the week. There's no way my replicas will hold up like yours will. If you notice that you're not the only RD2 out there with this bumper, just be proud that you know you have the BEST one out there wink1.gif

Lol, It's no problem with me if you mass produce them, but yeah, i prefer this ABS bumper over a FG one any day!!

FREAKEN AYE!! Today i tested the clearence, and i gotta say it has more clearance than the one i used to have!! I love this bumper!! I also made it bottom out a lil to see if the FG that i used would crack and NOPE, no cracks and no signes of any damage to the bumper!! Which if i had the other one i used to have, it would have a bunch of scrapes in the bottom, cracks and maybe lil rocks stuck in the bottom!! XP

The thing is, i love this bumper, i have to be quick in finishing it but i dont think i can finish it any time soon, until the end of this weak... I really dont have time, i get out at 5pm from work go to school from 6 to 8:45 and by then it's dark and i have no garage to work in, so basically i have to wait till the end of the weak.

Oh and Blacktibs, If you do mass produce it, make sure it has enough clearance cause if it's FG it wont last 02.gif (I LOVE MY BUMPER!!). I really recomend you mass produce it, and put it as a whole bodykit with those new side skirts your producing and the new rear bumper. It will look sweat!!
