I looked around town at the auto-tinting dealers and Im looking at choices of Sun-Gard, Llumar, or Diamond. Anyone know anything about these I looked some stuff up but they sound alot alike so Im still not sure, Im geting it put on tomorrow 25% all around, just dont know which brand. If anyone has/had any of these post ur experience, so I can decide. THNX

Sun Guard is GOOD. The big thing you want to look for is a warranty.

In general, the films made from metals will have a lifetime warranty, work the best, and be a bit more expensive. They come in many different shades, and make sure to ask and see an example installed before you pick one.

If I had it to do over, I'd get some of the charcoal colored. It's got a minor reflectivity to it, but really looks fantastic, not to mention, completely legal.

sun gard is pretty much the best stuff on the market, you wont have any worries about it turning purple or anything, and its not cheap tint for a shop to use, so if there spending the money on it, it says alot about the shop itself usually.

window tint is oil based. hence why the price of tint has gone up so much in the past year.

The lifetime warranty ones are metalized though. But yes, tints are made of layers of polyester and other oil produced films.

The practical benefits of sputtering are that 25 to 30 different metals can be used and the metallized coating is much lighter. It's possible to sputter metal in a layer one-hundredth the thickness of a human hair. Different metals are chosen to subtract specific bands of radiation from the solar spectrum. The result is a highly reflective layer with very little mirror effect, heat absorption or color shift. Because sputtering is more expensive, these films occupy the high end of the price range. Metallic films control radiation through reflectivity. Simplified film consists of polyester layers, metallic coating, adhesive and scratch-resistant coatings.

Alright got the Sun-Gard put on today, much better, theres a few small bubbles but i assume that just because it hasnt dried completely yet, and if it isnt theyll fix it for free so its all good. They just said leave the windows up for 24hrs and dont get water on it for a few days. I guess Ill have to postpone washing the car then cuz I dont want to risk water dripping on the glass at all.

bubbles will not go away. in fact, they will get worse. take it back and tell them to fix it(i.e. rip off the entire sheet and redo it).

if it was on the side windows then the shop sucks. i was a n00b tinter and even i was able to keep bubbles out of the windows. the hatch glass is a completely different story.

also i dont know what they mean with no water. tint goes on the inside of the glass, water on the outside shouldnt affect anything.

let it sit out in the sun if possible for a few hours, if you have a few small bubbles, that will usually get rid of them, if there really noticeable though, there not gonna go away, definitly go back in that case.
