No! Do not use terry cloths...'specially not the kind you get from Pep Boys/Autozone...nor do you get microfiber cloths from those stores. You get them from online stores, b/c they're not cheap...and you can SEE the difference in the quality of material (microfiber cloths from Pep Boys actually caused light scratches on my car!)
Back in the first year I bought my car, I was a complete detail freak. I would spend an entire day detailing the car. Wake up at 9:00, wash the car, park the car in the shade, and then start removing every single bug splatter/tar/tree sap stuck on every inch of my car. Also even got underneath the car a bit.
Then I gave up, because I have scratches here and there now... sad.gif
The site I use for detailiing info and product ish is Autopia...very good site.

Seems like detailing is an art to some people. fing02.gif
In addition, a lot of you've got excellent detailing products. This is one reason I don't trust my buddy Andy, he's got like a "universal" wax for black cars, and it seems to me all he does is a quick wash & wax. Plus he charges extra for engine bay cleaning and interior.
With that aside, who wants to detail my car?wink1.gif
Did someone say you should NOT use bath towels? How come?

I said it.
And it's mostly b/c people have done tests where they used some high quality microfiber versus 100% cotton terry cloth towels vs generic microfiber found at Pep Boys/Autozone/etc.
Tests concluded that the HQ microfiber left very little-to-none scratches (on a microscopic level), whereas the terry cloth and the generic microfiber left scratches.
I can't find the site that did the test, but if you look on the www.autopia.org forums, you'll find the test somewhere.

BetterCarCare.com
W00t...found the exact article...which you could've done instead of me. tongue.gif
I got me a microfiber waffle weave for drying. I should probably get my hands on some microfiber buffing towels. As for glass...I prefer using newspaper and a nice bottle of Invisible Glass. Newspaper is very absorbent, and the ink acts like a polish for the glass. smile.gif
