When you drive your car through the snow and salt, it accumulates a lot of crap. So when the spring comes and you can finally break out the hose and bucket, what does your first detail consist of? Mine is

  • wash exterior
  • wash door sills
  • wash engine bay
  • wash under carriage
  • wash rocker panels
  • claybar exterior
  • 2 coats of polish
  • 2 coats of wax
  • remove rubber mats
  • vacuum interior
  • scrub carpets with carpet shampoo
  • dry with a hair dryer
  • dash cleaner
  • dash polish
  • install carpet mats
  • remove winter tire wheels and tires
  • install summer wheels and tires
  • detail engine bay and get any spots I missed

It's a lot of work and usually a full days work but I love doing it.

I do a lot that the OP does, but I dont have to worry about the door sills, rocker panels or engine bay since the car was detailed before it was put away last October. No salt will ever touch my car, so in about 6 weeks when I bring it out (weather and road conditions permitting), then it will already be clean. But I'll still strip the wax and everything off and re-do it all just because I like doing it too.
