In the winter time, when you have a lot of ice built up on your car, rocker panels, and roof, does the ice do anything to mess up your paint? Or very cold temperatures? I know intense heat can fade your paint like it does in some parts in the south or out west but what about the opposite? Im sure using a snow brush can leave a lot of fine scratches in the paint though.

 

Question your knowledge. The main problem in most places isn't the heat, it's the UV exposure. Also, it's not so much the ice as the road salt that eats cars. Anyway damage from ice/heat/sun is SLOW. By the time you would notice it happened, you've sold the car already. Cold would have to be WAAAAY colder than the USA sees, before I'd worry about it hurting car paint. And by that point I'd be more worried about the tires and hoses before the paint anyway.

 

If you use a snowbush anywhere on your car other than the glass, then you will have fine hairline scratches in it. But it's nothing a good summer detail wont fix.
