How good is the RD1's OEM sunroof? any probs to look out for?

I'm thinking of getting one from the junkyard and have it installed into my tib.
I don't know how they do it, but there is a way, and it doesn't involve chopping the roof at the pillars.

I've always wanted a sunroof for my tib

the flap sometimes sticks down and you can't get it to come up without physically moving it. It gets bent sometimes. Other then that, i don't know of any problems with the sunroof.

The stock sunroof has a tray which catches water and routes it to all four tires. I don't think you'll be getting that though.

DrivingTibNaked: interesting, I didn't know about that water drainage thing in the sunroof. So the water is routed through the roof into the pillars and down the fender?
Would it be a problem if I can't drain the water?

yeah, getting that installed wont turn out like it would on a stock tib. or itll cost a whole crapload of money.

you shouldn't have a problem with water as long as the sunroof doesn't leak.

yes, the water is routed to go down to the wheel wells. basically preventing water sitting in case of leaks, or if you have the sunroof vented a bit while it was raining.

ohh okie.. so basically the only problem i would face is water coming into the cabin when the tray gets full?

well, it depends on how it gets installed.. have you already got a quote to get this installed? theres a TON that is going to go into it.. the motor, the roof, the brackets, re-tucking in roof material, etc.

I do not like the aftermarket sunroofs.. no offence.

I've always liked sunroofs that slide back and out like the tibs, unlike the regular once which tuck into the roof itself.

SOCKS: installation would probably cost quite abit, as it would have to include painting as well. I plan to get my tib painted.. so this would be the best time to get the sunroof done.
From what I gathered, the installers will take the entire roof but without cutting the pillars from both cars, and swapping them. I'm not sure whether it's gonna be weld or are there bolts holding the roof lining to the frame...

RUST. I wish we could get some carbon fiber sunroofs, I'd KILL for one of those.
