Splitters Protect Vielside Kit From Scraping?
Dont take the title wrong I know splitters wont keep the front bumper from hitting, Im asking if the JSP splitters would protect the kit in case I did hit? And if you wouldnt recommend JSP what are some other good cf splitters for a better price?
I'm not sure if having them would be worth it, because in the end you'll be hitting the ground more. Then again, maybe thats just because of my ride height. But every time you hit, its putting pressure on the kit itself and causing it it to flex. I've hit the ground hard enough that it pulled the corrners of the bumper out from the fenders.
In my opinion, adding the splitters would be useless in someways. Sure it protects you from scrapping your front end, but I've done it enough to know that it can't be seen. It sounds horrible when you do it, and you feel like an idiot, but other than that, no one else will ever know.

team prototype has reall nice spiltters, cannards, and diffusers. definatly worth checkin out. not only will they help protect your kit but its also a great and unique way to differentiate your car.

I don't know if splitters would help enough to warrant having them in the first place but something that might be beneficial would be a custom alloy under-tray/diffuser: bolt it onto the underside of your bumper & to the chassis somewhere & prolly even fab up an extra couple of support arms that could bolt directly onto the bumper support... That'd "lift" the nose if ever you scraped, rather than just tear your bumper off of it's mounts.
My old VS was modded a little to reduce the scraping, but personally I dont think splitters will help a whole lot.
If your not breaking your front bumper you'll be breaking your splitter, probably along with your bumper.

Please explain...the car will be coming out of the shop tuesday with the new House Of Kolor Pearl Black paint and I dont think my stomach can handle bad scraping

I've considered splitters, but don't think it's worth it. I have an authentic kit and it withstands a lot of scraping. The things that have broken my kit are things that a splitter would not have prevented (chunks of broken concrete sticking up in parking lots, curbs, etc.). Putting a splitter on it would only push up on the kit more, and give you advance warning before you scrape (not much of one). It'll put it closer to the ground and the splitter itself would push against the bumper more often.
basically, you have to learn how to drive your car in a manner that will prevent scraping. I RARELY scrape now, but there are some places I simply can't avoid it. Scraping without a splitter only scrapes up the bottom of the bumper, and it's too low for anyone to see anyways. My car's white, the bumper is whie, so we can't really tell if the paint's gone or if it's the bumper we're seeing wink1.gif nobody gets that low to look at it anyways

Guess I will just have to put all my skills on lowered cars into play and hope for the best...I will just be staying out of walmart and places like that...the only thing that sucks is I am going off to college in the fall and that place is covered with speed bumps
I wish I could like mount a camera on the under carrage to see if I am about to hit or not...be nice kinda like a backup camera
Hey majik
How do you like your kit molded into the car? I was thinking about it but the way it turned out I think you guys on here will like it (hopefully). I never thought that the pearl black would turn out like it did..very very awesome charcoal grey in the sun. I love it..hope you guys think I did the right stuff because Im pretty much the only guy around here sporting a Tib and I didnt want to rice it out..I brought the tib from a total lost junker to a show car with 8 months in the body shop. I will get some pics ASAP and when I do tell me if I need to enter it into the COTM

molding the rear bumper makes it look awesome. The rear never scrapes, but the sides catch on some speed bumps. Molding is good ONLY if the guy doing the body work is good, and makes sure it's done right. First time it was done on my car, the guy didn't let it dry and applied it too thick so it was always putty... we redid it and had to scrape the old stuff out, that had never hardened. It's perfect now, never cracks or anything... BUT because the front of my side skirts are molded, I can't get new fenders OR install the Vertical Door kit without cutting my sideskirts off of the fenders. 02.gif
I would NEVER suggest ANYBODY mold their front bumper. I have to take it off to change my oil, have my car towed, or if I want to install the exhaust/headers. Molding the front bumper, especially with the amount of scraping you'll encounter, is the worse thing you can do.
Oh, and stay away from parking garages, they're murder on the front and sides.
