I've seen a few custom Tibs with Roof Scoops. I'm assuming that's not a kit and you actually have to mold it yourself. Anybody have any information on them?

For our cars, it would be just for show. I've read articles where they were used as ducting for turbos and such. How exactly, I don't know.

I thought... and boy is there a HUGE chance that I'm wrong... those roof scoops were to bring air into the cabin for the driver in races(WRC?) because they have no A/C?

You're right Tiburonmoo they're used for that. I just remember reading somewhere that somone tried to run ducting to the motor from there.

lol yes way.

being, make that once been, a huge wrc fan, we found that answer out a long time ago. same with the front snorkel that is used in safari rallies. they are used as resonators except from air that is at the top of the car, going in the opposite direction should any water/mud ingestion occur.

roof scoops on our cars are really pointless. really really pointless. i think they look cool too, but it's really pathetic seeing them on street racing cars. roof scoops are meant for endurance racing. not a 1/4 freakin mile or a simple track race (LOL) endurance races include wrc, le mans, paris dakar, touring, where the car needs to conserve its energy)

instead of using the dash venting ,A/C, or powered induction, the drivers need to get fresh air from the top of the car through the roof and into the cabin. it disables the use of power meaning the car has one less function and more speed throughout the entire sum of the race.

roof scoops won't help anybody who is not going fast and it will probably drag you down if you have one. it's like having a sunroof on the car. you don't really need it for racing and it's just for show. (although sunroofs are fun to have, and roof scoops are really kind of pointless.

it would cost too much money to drill and vent your roof to put a pointless hump above your car. although, being a rally fan, i wouldn't mind having one myself just for the car to look more like the formula 2 evo.

check out these two links. some lucky guy did a conversion from SE to F2 EVO 2... notice the body panels are different.

this lucky chap converted his 2000 hyundai to an F2 EVO 2. notice the differences in the body panels. it's def. missing a roof scoop even though it woldn't be rallying.

Roof scoops kick ass. Especially for ppl like me who dont use the AC except for the defrost function during the fall and winter.

I would love to have a FUNCTIONAL roof scoop on my tib....who knows maybe one day when i win power ball..... ;-)
