So I was wondering if this has ever been done. I think the RD2 is probably (to me) one of the ugliest creations man has ever made. So I was thinking if the car is basically the same, would it be possible to swap the hood, fenders, bumper-cover and headlights between an RD2 and an RD1?

I'm going from memory..and I'm old, so my memory may be spotty/wrong.
The RD2 Tib has a different top radiator support/hood latch (due to the shorter hood). So it's not just as easy as swapping the fenders/hood/lights/front bumper. You need to replace that top radiator support and hood latch assembly from the RD1. That top radiator support is spot welded in, so you would need to drill out the spot welds on both, then literally bolt them together on the final car (or shear the spot welds and then re weld).
I seem to remember there are some other minor thing that make the swap a PITA, but the details escape me @ the moment (like I said, I'm old and memory is going).
I do know that it's "doable"..it has been done in Korea. They had many RD2 tibs with RD1 front fender/hoods.

correct me if im wrong but i think the fenders are the same... the headlights need to be change and rd1's are 9007 and rd2 are h7. top radiator mount and front clip if i remember is all thats needed... then foglights if you have that option
Can you believe we're still doing this stuff? I'm dying to find a crazy cheap shell of an RD2, do the swap to the front, and then go on a hunt for a wrecked Genesis to frankentib up another project

If you want to pay for it, you can build yourself a deuce coupe with all steel aftermarket-sourced parts. Don't be surprised at an unusual car that's only a decade old still having enthusiasts, mang!
