yes, fenders are exactly the same. hood is not. both bumpers are not. i think the hardest part to change would be the light assembly. the rear fenders fit RD lights.. i don'tknow why, but RD2's use H7's, H10's, and RD1's use 9005, 9006. but in fact, i think, all you would have to do it purchase two RD1 bumpers, RD1 lighting, RD1 hood and call it a day. the only problem (correct me in i'm wrong) the trunk is different on the RD2 but the concersion would require you to use an RD1 trunk and then light assembly, along with the RD1 bumper would not be difficult.

you know, this is not hard! i'd definitely buy a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon and have it look like the RD1. It would definitely be worth it. It would be much faster, newer, and younger yet still look exactly like an RD1. It wouldn't be expensive too, if you find an aftermarket hood, and a trunk hatch from a junkyard.

i meant why would anyone want to change their car to look like a bug eyed frog if it didnt look like that in the first place.
that's what boggles me too. but if you get to be with hyundai for a while, they are all about change... one day or another. what sucks the most, is they are directly influenced by today's market and their rules are to portrey other markets as much as possible, meaning: if a camry sells good, make a car that is just like the camry with an extra warranty. --the tiburons were designed by teenagers in california studios (HCD projects) only to kick off the new return of hyundai lineup (1996) and inspire the lineup. that was just about the only major revolutionary move hyundai ever made. once that lineup was gone, the korenas went back to their original intents. This is a cycle, as once again, the HCD-8 kicks off a new lineup just as the tiburon aka HCD-II did back in 1992.

Hey zoned, I know I am probably going to get hated on for this post, but I have been thinking about converting my front end to a RD1.

For all you haters, I love the RD1 front end with some of the kits available and no other car would be like mine.

Anyway, maybe we can swap parts. If we took our 2 cars and 'frankenstiened' them together, then I am sure that it would look bad ass! Let me know if you are serious. Next spring sounds like a good time frame.

the fenders are the same..........

Contrary to what MADTIB posted. they dont LOOK the same....

but they are.

and please....answer the question WHY do you want to do this?

personally...I think the rd2 front end w/ the rd1 ass looks really good....it doesn't work the other way though.

Sorry, I thought the fenders were different.

yeah that is why im doing it..for looks, to be unique.
i love the rd2 front end, there is no other car like it (integra is similar i suppose)
and combined with the rd1 rear, those tails look so cool....just my opinion but i think it would be kickass.
someone must agree it would be cool to have an rd2 front and rd1 rear.

LOL yeah it was REDZ's post that made me think of this when he said "best bodykit for Rd1 = rd2 front+rear bumper :-D)"

tibracer that sounds good, that would be inexpensive for both of us then..just shipping would kill....or else we could maybe drive and meet up somewhere, you're in illinois, im in wisconsin...are you north or south illinois? how far from chicago?
i am pretty serious about this, just need to do more research and make sure neither of us are going to run into big problems you know, i don't want to pay out the ass to have a shop or someone do this custom, it seems to me like it should be fairly simple conversion btw, what color is your tib?

how do you figure that it would look out of place, the two cars are exactly the same except the front and rear ends..so you wouldn't even be able to tell unless you were looking and could see BOTH front and rear ends of the car (i dont know what kind of angle that would be?) from the front it would look like a normal rd2, from the back a normal rd1.

i think rd1s look ugly stock, unless lowered with rims..sorry hkc, lol.

rd1 front just looks too generic to me, the eyeline reminds me of a pontiac. although i must admit there are lots of front bumpers that are cooler for the rd1 (bodykit wise). basically the reason im doing it i saw an rd2 front and fell in love with the circle lights.

back on topic:
are hood latches in the same place, and it lines up the same with the fenders?
is there going to be any support needed anyhwere?
enough room for headlights/corners, no spacing problems?
im sure someone has looked under enough hoods of rd1s and rd2s to be able to judge stuff like this. does anyone forsee any problems?

Why did you start another thread about this?

I gave you a complete list on what you need to do this.

Also, you can go to www.hyundaiaftermarket.com and do a search about it.

I'm locking this because we JUST TALKED ABOUT IT.

Post in the wanted forum for the parts, and make a thread when you start your work.
