well i really would like to do this, im thinking that this spring (because my car is being stored in the winter and ill be driving a beater!) i will be trying this, i've posted this before in other topics and have got some brief feedback, so i decided to start a new thread on it.

what are the major differences in the front ends between the two cars, what parts would need to be replaced? to my knowledge wouldn't it just be the front bumper, hood, and headlights?
any other things to worry about? support brackets or anything that is different?

and finally..
does anyone have any of these stock parts left (like if you got a body kit so you have your stock hood and/or bumper left--cobalt blue would be the best!) and would sell them off at a good price? i realize shipping will be a lot, but im sure it will still be cheaper than anywhere else i would find it.

radiator support will need to be changed. It also supports your lights and the light mounts on the two cars are VASTLY different. But, that should be the only place where you need an experoenced body guy.. needs to be cut out and welded in.

Evidently, not everyone appreciates the beauty of an RD1 front end. Why would anyone want their car to look like a bug-eyed frog? LOL

 

You should stay with your cars original front end. I remember people did the same thing with the mid 80's stangs...It just didn't look right, you can tell that someting was changed...It's your gig though..do what you want.

personally, i fell in love with the beauty and sleek looks of the rd1. --my dentist pulled up in a brand spankin' new one in 1997 (i was in 7th grade). we've been with hyundai since '86 and little did i know, surely, i looked at the back of it and saw the crooked h! i fell in love the moment i saw it. i begged my folks to take me to the showrooms just to see them in their best.

the koreans altered the rd2's to match the '96 celica. perhaps that's why blu_drgn probably wants his to be more original?

i saw a GK today. a red one, almost raced it at the light. that thing was sexy. but remembering that feeling that you can only get once, that undescribable Hyundai FX tiburon nostalgia back in the 7th grade, believing that a hyundai could make such a sporty car in the first place, i could not live without owning an RD1.

of course, today, i look at the car in two different ways. i remember how i once used to look upon the tiburon thinking it was a "golden shrine" or perfection, and now i just think of ways to make it faster within a series of parts. of course, i still think of it as a "golden shrine" as each day if somebody passes my house, they will see me standing there in the driveway gazing at my car for hours..., however, i realize now what i had not realized back then; the tib has four wheels and it drives. back then, i used to think it swam laugh.gif

Personally, I like the way the rd1 looks in the front and rear.I thought about changing my rd2 in the front to look like the rd1.As far as I can tell, I would have to change:

(1)Hood
(2)Fenders

 

the fenders are the same..........

Contrary to what MADTIB posted. they dont LOOK the same....

but they are.

and please....answer the question WHY do you want to do this?

personally...I think the rd2 front end w/ the rd1 ass looks really good....it doesn't work the other way though.
