Painting Rims
i am considering painting my stock '99 Tiburon rims... i want to go gunmetal....
a similar colour to what Nightshark has on his...
do you have to sand down the rims before painting or is it ok to just paint them....
also how many coats is enough????
im just curious because i dont really want to have to get them powder coated or anything because they are my stock rims....

definately have them sandblasted, and why not powder coat them??? if they happen to be using a gunmetal color any time soon you may get a price break, a good part of the cost of powder coating is them having to change colors, you might get lucky. check around and keep in touch w/ them b/c if someone else is already paying to have a certain color done, they will most likely give you a break b/c they are already set up to do it.
in the end, i bet you'd pay just as much to paint all fours wheels (w/ the sandblasting) as you would to have them powder coated.

how much does sandblasting cost?
the reason i was asking about all this is because i dont have the money to take my rims off the tires and all that, plus sandblasting yadda yadda yadda... i just wanted to take one off at a time mask it off... spray it with my gunmetal paint that i bought and some shimmer clear.... and shove the things back on the car when they are nice and dry....
