Default Re: What is the best way to start with an automatic......??

Here is what I want to do to my headlights but I don't want to buy them from shat racing.

My questions are:

1. Do you have to leave any reflector/chrome area on the projector/low beam side since it is a projection beam light?

2. Where do you stop painting the chrome/reflector area on the high beam side?

BTW if you didn't notice from the link this is for an RD1.

no and looking at the stock lights. the reflector for the highs and the chrome surround for the lights are two different pieces... I would just take that chrome surround out and paint that.

so like this....

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/amgarcia/My%20.../blacklight.JPG

yes they are 2 seperate pieces...you have to head the headlight in the oven to do this to break the seal...paint the inside casing...real simple, no real prep, unless you want...then heat up the headlight and put it back together...make sure you have some extra sealant to use on it, it probably won't look to pretty aroudn the connection area, but nobody will see it.

Yes, 2 pieces,...

Sorry, but this is the best pic I can find, it's a hacked up one smile.gif

Perks of working at a place that has a bodyshop. laugh.gif
A buddy of mine wanted the Projectors for a HID project on his XD, so he hacked these ones up, they were already cracked anyway,....

Anyway, I don't want to use the "img" tag, cuz it's huge. But yeah, you can see the 2 pieces,... The one you want to paint is the behind, laying down on the bench. The Highbeam, (DRL) light has it's own housing, like KayDM said laugh.gif

kayjai that's a good picture... and that is exactly right..the chrome part just comes out and you paint it...make suuuure you seal it GOOD or you'll have moisture in it and what not.

painting it doesn't affect the lighting at all.

I guess I should have posted pics of mine earlier. I did these early this year, I had a little condensation issue with the drivers side light, but after the heat of the summer it seams to have resealed itself.

Default Re: DIY for a starter button install?

looks good Java.. Hyundai should have done that from the factory... Does it affect the lighting at all? Headlights do not only throw light fowards and down, but have a certain amount of "spray" upwards to illuminate street signs and such..

BLU_DRGN, Don't mean to jack your thread, but my Q's might help you as well.

(1)What temp should you set the oven at?
(2)Bake?
(3)will it leave a nasty aroma?

When you re-seal them, do you use a silicone sealant? Also, do you coat the 2 halves then put in the oven?

Sorry for all the Q's, but I'm starting to think about possibly trying this out.
