So...I took the Genesis to get its state inspection done. It was actually illegal because it expired the end of March. So I took it to the garage where I have gone before with no issues.



In NY, if your sticker is expired they have to by law peel it off regardless if you pass or fail. They look it over, peel the sticker off, and go through all the regular BS. Safety check is all good. Emissions check...perfect. They then go and throw it reverse to check the lights. Uh oh...problem.



My tails have red out film on them and I have high power LED reverse lights. The light shines through the film as a pink-ish off white color.



They tell me it wont pass inspection because the light has to be fully white. Its a $10,000 fine if they inspect it and I get pulled over for not having white reverse lights.



Soooo, in order to pass I had to take a razor blade and very delicately and slowly cut out a small rectangular shape in the film that I spent hours making sure was completely perfect so that the white light would shine through.



It doesnt look right now and out of place. Really pissed me off to no end but what can ya do except piss and moan about how strict NY is. I knew what I was doing when I put the film on but I didnt think it was going to be that big of a deal considering you could still see lots of light showing through no problem.



Im probably gonna keep it that way for now until I get a set of 2013 tails or a really really cheap set of used Superlux tails.

my hyundai just failed on admission and guy pulled he's own car in and tested he's and passed me.

 

You should have seen the inspectors face when he popped the hood on the accent and saw a 2.0 in there

 

I went to get the Colt smogged... guy popped the hood, saw the 4G63, knew what it was and closed the hood. Had to find some place that didn't know.

 

I don't have to do inspections.
