This is a doozy so feel free to laugh at my expense. Could you in theory, tape off the back window, and spray paint the entire thing with nightshades, and it would act just like window tint? It would look like ass so wet sanding and clear coating would have to be done in order for it to look somewhat ok, right?

yes, in theory, you could do it.. but with that big of a surface, the odds of having it look real nice would be pretty slim.. it would be a TON of work and not save you much than getting it professionally tinted. I would guess 2-3 cans of night shades to get it dark, then a bunch of hours wet sanding it and clearing.. Tint on the INSIDE of the window will look MUCH better, hold up better AND last longer..

It would, theoretically, work. Clarity will probably be severely effected though.
