Either the WRX or STI looks good IMO....
What would look nice is like i did and actually mold the scoop into the hood... fing02.gif

I like it man. I think the Subie gods had us in mind when they designed that scoop. And the location is perfect. any farther forward would look dumb and cooling the IM can't be a bad thing. Well done!!

Wow, thanks for all the positive responses!! Definitely wasn't expecting that much, I'm glad you all like it!
Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, I don't have access at work, so hopefully I'll make it up here. Ask again if I missed a question...
Yes, mine is the STI scoop, however, it's not the 'peanut' style, which is 4" tall. Mine is just about 2-3". Caj's looked a touch small for my preference, hence why I opted for this one. It was a brand new, never installed part, not even painted. I definitely preferred the bolt on look, and this didn't require me to repaint my entire hood, just the scoop itself.
I had forgotten you did one, so now I'm one of 3 in the US that has it cool.gif
I'm really sure my engine temps have decreased compared to what it used to be, especially after driving around awhile. I'm assuming it has a similar effect to a phenolic spacer, but I can't say for sure... And I still absolutely love seeing the heat waft out of there when I'm stopped.
Thanks man. If you don't mind (and are allowed to), could you PM me what he said? I'm sorta curious, especially as it's one of the few negative comments...
I did remove the entire hood liner. I wasn't really sure at first, but I thought it would look pretty silly with just a hole cut in the middle of it, particularly as that stuff doesn't look nice after chopping through. And the little plastic things that held the liner on pretty much grenaded as I pulled them off...
That means a lot from you man, thanks!!
About 70% of the reason I did this was for looks, the other 30% was for functionality, hence locating it where it is. The real STI has it placed right about there, so I put mine there too. Anywhere else would look absurd and have virtually no point. My performance goal wasn't to decrease engine temps, it was to decrease the intake charge temp, which this does perfectly. Thanks Socks for defending me fing02.gif
Thanks to Caj for letting me steal his idea! And thanks to my dad for helping me get this whole thing figured out (brackets, cutting, placement, etc)!

Looks good man.. fing02.gif
I had my WRX Scoop done about 6 years ago and still love the look cool.gif
For some reason i did notice with mine installed engine temps did slighly rise on a hot humid day and then when i instlled my hood liner back its not as bad.I guess because of amboient temps?

and a nice fat warning for Silentsecret, congratulations.
blatant attacks on forum members about a mod that will cool your engine compartment will not be tolerated.
keep your opinions to yourself. better yet, actual do the research into why people like CAJ and StrikeEagle did this, you might become a little more knowledgeable in the end.
post is invisible to maintain the "calm of the masses".

Strike eagle, did you remove the entire hood liner or just around the scoop?
