Hood Pins
OK so i finally got all the kinks worked out of the hood not latching. After several Emails and Phone calls VIS decided they wanted me to modify the latch on the car and bore out the holes so it would slide up further. So after several atempts it finally fits. Good and snug as a bug in a rug. Looks great to. I know i know PICS. Ill post some as soon as my Grille gets back from powder coating. Any how i have heard many opinions on the subject. Some say only if speeds will be in excess of 100+ some say less. So here is your chance speak your mind and let me know YES or NO. I trust yall!
I vote yes, but only because you ended up having to modify the latch. Just as, oh, an added safety against latch failure. Plus, even though some people will scream "RICE!!!!", I think they look cool and will draw more attention to your custom hood.

Well, unless you want to have the greater chance of killing yourself or someone else in an accident, put them on. They DO have non ricey ones you know, and even locking ones that look pretty nice.
Yea i was told about the locking ones that are supposed to sit flush with the hood but ive never seen them. Looks like its time to start looking. Being that i drive 100+ miles per day and most of it is 70 mph.

I didn't know the hood pins were RICE... I don't think they are rice at all... what might be rice is to put them on with no need at all, but I would use them with whatever non OEM hood, who knows for sure what would brake... and for the cost of two hood pins, you can avoid a lot of bad things.
If you don't want them to "catch the eye" too much, you can paint them in the same color as your car, IMO they look the better in polished stainless or even chrome when in cars with dark colors.
Better safe than sorry.
A friend of mine forgot to latch his hood one day, and while driving down the highway it came off. He cracked his windshield and really scraped/dented a lot of his car. Also, that'd be scary as hell.
Moral of the story is that it's dangerous and just stupid to drive with a lightweight hood and not have hood pins or something else securing it down.
