The headlight you show is a 9006, which is for a first gen. 2nd gens use a H7 bulb for the low beam. Can anyone confirm if an HID bulb will hit the housing in a 2nd gen?

 

HID bulbs are made to fit exactly in the same space as the regular halogen bulb except the back of the bulb incl wires.

shouldnt have any problems but then again i dont have a 2k.

 

If someone sent me a HID kit, I would be the guinea pig for everyone.

 

so how does it wire in with the head light switch? And do you have to run the headlights (after installing the HID) without the circle backing that screws on since you run the wires from the back of the HID bulb to the box?

 

From what I have learned so far, it uses a relay that draws power straight from the battery, and gets it signal from the existing headlight wiring. You do have to cut a hole in the caps that seal the housing, but they are easily sealed with a grommit and small amount of silicon. I have sat there online now numerous times with these things in my cart, but I keep backing out at the last minute. I really would like some feedback from someone who has them on a 2nd gen!!

 

Arite people, I have installed my HIDs on my 2nd Gen Tib, the bulb does not hit the housing. It fits in there perfectly fine. THe light output is great. I have pix but my webpage is really screwing with me and I can't post them, so I will have pix up of the light output and the wiring and where I have placed the ballasts.

HIDs work off ballasts. the ballast has two wires coming off it plugging into the back of the bulb then the bulb gets plugged into the stock wiring harness of the car so that it gets power and all. I will try and do a DIY for you all as soon as I can. I'll also get the pix up.

Everything is plug and play, u plug the stock wiring harness into the bulb and plug the bulb into the ballast wires and ur set.
