okay you said it works with the stock relays.

well i went outside and cut my current kit up. and it does not work without the relay that came with the kit.

I hooked up the igniter to the stock connectors and it didnt work. why wouldnt it?

as far as the igniter going out. i also switched the igniters and had the same current problem of the passenger one not coming on the first click. so i'm thinking i need a new bulb.

can you get a closer picture of the connectors of the bulbs.

most HID kits do not come with relays. you sure you are not htinking of the ballasts long?

this is how the stock headlight system works. you have a low current 12v wire running to a bosch relay, then inside the cabin to the multifunction switch. as soon as the switch is turned, current flows and switches the relay for the headlights to recieve power. everything from the headlight to the relay to the battery is rated for much higher current. such iis the point of a relay, to switch on a high power with a very low power. they do this so they arent running huge wires into the dash and dont have to build the switches to handle huge current loads.

all you are going to do with this kit is hook up the 12v headlight wires to the ballast input wires(spade terminals). that sends 12v into the ballasts, where the voltage is stepped up to something crazy, probably around 4k, which is necessary for the electricity to jump from cathode to anode(or whichever way it is) in the bulb. then you just hook the output of the ballasts to the HID bulbs. DONE

trying to hook the HID bulbs right up to the headlight wires will not work. 12v is not enough to do anything inside the bulbs.

^^^ no i know what you're saying and thats not what i mean.

here is how it is setup.

power and ground from the spade terminal in the headlight go to the relay. which then brakes into two power. one power goes to one ballast and the other to the other. each ballast also has a separate ground. without the relay the lights dont work.

i tried taking the spade terminal and hooking it up to two wires that led into the ballast and then the two from the ballast into the hid bulb.

it didnt work. why wouldnt it? i'll try the other headlight tommorrow. i know what everyone is saying but this hid kit comes with one relay and it works fine with it. its a philips kit.

or it says its philips bulbs but the bulbs dont say philips ON them. the ballast are philips ballast though.

who wired it for you. i honestly have no idea why they would be like that. are you sure that the things you are talking about are relays? you sure they arent the igniters?

a relay is just an electricity activated switch, nothing more.

lol, i figured you knew what a relay is what with your suspension. just didnt know. wink1.gif

i dont know why they would have came with relays. its just another damn component, and more wiring. no added safety whatsoever.

each ballast is hooked up to each headlights power and ground wires correct?

no its wired just like the diagram. it uses only one side for power. the driver side. the passenger side stock connector isnt even connected.

i wouldnt have done that.

ditch the relay, and connect each ballast to its specific side's low beam power and ground wires.

I dunno whats going on. i tried it and it DIDNT work. i tried the passenger side. only thing i can think of is, paint and dirt got inside the connector since its been off. i'll try the driver side tom.

it wants you to use a relay when taking power from one side because one side by itself cannot supply power for both kits. this is dumb though, HIDs use less power than regular halogens, so taking power for EACH ballasts, directly from its side headlight power wires is the way to go. looks a lot neater, and is a bunch easier.

im splitting this.
