good news
a local shop i goto is having a sale on rims, like 90$ per rim. so this weekend my mom is gonna help me pay half for rims and tires as a bday gift. Then iam putting a payment towards springs for a 1.75 drop. Black rims, thinking 17s so far. if anyone can help me out with how far i should drop with 17s please feel free to tell me. The guy was telling me it be better to get 17s than 16s.
For rims size it really depends what you want, i believe there is a thread about this in the tires breaks and suspension, called 17" rims, but i was going for 17" and decided to go for the 16", i plan to lower my car so i dont want any chance of rubing, but my decision isnt final ill have to see after i get the body kit on...laugh.gif

He wants you to get 17's because they are popular and he makes more off of them. Trust us, get 16's.
17's will give you a rougher ride and will definately damage easier.

another advantage of getting 16's is that they will be lighter that 17's = quicker acceleration and better traction. if you decide to go w/ 16's try to get 16x7's b/c you'll have a wider foot print which means even better traction.
it all depends on what you want from your car.. 17s will really fill out that well.. but as stated above, the 16s are better for performance... I have 16x7 Enkei RPO1s... great rim that almost looks stock.
BTW.. I threw my old 14s on the car yesterday so I could take it to the dealer for a wheel bearing.. the car look stupid on them.

yeha, the ride is definitely rougher on 17's...i feel every little bump i hit and it's caused me to freak out about hurting them a bunch of times...but they look so much better than stock, so i'm not arguing at all wink1.gif

Odball to get?
Where do you live?
LOL
Here's what you do mang... Unless he's giving you a fantastic deal on tires too, just get the rims from him, contact a store near you that price matches tires, find the tires you want online for as CHEAP as you can, and print it up and take it in. That's what I did. Saved me hundreds of bucks.
Don't be in a big hurry, do it right.
Discount Tire price matches.
The tires I wanted weren't in stock but they came in 5 days later. I've seen 16's and 17's, even a few 18's, the latter 2 get damaged too easily and the ride SUCKS. If you want a bruised ass and damaged rims, get 17's or 18's.
If not, get 16's with some 205/50 or 45/16's, drop it about an inch, and you'll be set.
As for a gap, with your stockies, is there a gap?
Oh, don't forget, you loose speed and performance with a bigger wheel. Remember, the farther out you go, the slower it turns.

more advice on the price matching. print out this page here and bring it to a Sears Auto. If they are like my sears, which most have the same inventory, these tires are in their stock, so no waiting would be needed. I believe selling price through Sears is about $125 or so. $40 off a tire is pretty damn good wink1.gif
