So do I lmao.

It looks like something from world war 2, is 1 mega pixel and was free. And it takes shit pics LOL.

Mind you, it's better than nothing..

With every turn of the wrench and the screw the more custom this has become.

It's funny really, before the parts started to be fitted none of the work I had done could really be seen. My hands are hard and cracked and the skin is peeling off and I have been wrecked tired for weeks because I have been putting in 10am - 5pm, shower then work my job from 6-12.

But just check this out. As if the rims wasnt enough for one day these tails just look plain f***ing evil.

I was worried I would become a cop magnet, but with the lights on at night they would never know they looked like that.

Spacers arrive tomorrow, but I have sworn to myself that the rims will not go on until all the bodywork is done.. because I know if I put them on now I wont finish it lol..

You said you swore that you wouldn't put 'em on yet!

i'm not a fan of the vents (too big for me) but i swear you will have one mean bastard of a tib when she's done because you have done alot of custom shit and i comend you sir, are those headlights darkened and if not, i know blackouts are old but with the vents i think it will look pretty good

The vents are VERY love/hate hit/miss.

It's definitely a Britain thing, I mean they come from a Brit only car and I can certainly see why Americans or anyone else wouldnt like them.. They do serve a valid purpose aside from the aesthetics but I didnt expect to set the US scene alight with them smile.gif

My car has been customised from top to bottom, front to back. EVERYTHING from the engine bay, bumpers, doors, rims, tail, paint and stereo has been changed. Some dramatically, some very subtle.

When I set out nearly 2 years ago I wanted to totally and utterly change the car, leave no screw unchanged.. And, I wanted to do it all myself. I have had help along the way (sanding, bolting on mods and so on) but all of the work ideas and changes were all performed by me. None are perfect, I mean shit the paint has minor flaws and the bondo work isnt perfect like a show car, but I did it. That matters more to me than handing over cash to someone to do it for me.. That would go against the whole idea of this.

The headlights have been broken apart, painted black inside and then put back together, the corners are blacked out and have a black 'frame' around them.. The frame started out as a way of hiding small cracks and ugly glue but turned into something unique, which was my whole objective from the outset.

I do have a list of all the mods performed, and additions.. Ill upload it to another thread soon smile.gif But for now here's some more of my loving handywork that I did today smile.gif And thanks, all of a sudden the compliments are coming in thick and fast.. I actually got real emotional yesterday when this old dude stopped to congratulate me on the work I had done.. He said he used to build 'rods in the 70s and thus could see how many major customisations I had done to the car.. Then said it was stunning.. I was so choked I could hardly talk heh.

OK so I was up bright and early again, went out for brekky @ BK and then got onto another finishing detail.. The back end plate part.

I envisioned this in black with a red neon (6") with either an AEM or Injen plate frame (black one with white text.. to match the car.. yes the finishing details really are that specific) however, seeing as how Im running a clone AEM intake (same f***ing thing for $40) and the fact that I have no Injen stuff coupled with the fact that Injen and AEM wanted $20 for a sodding piece of plastic at NOPI meant that I looked elsewhere.

Now I have many nicknames (c***, limey, handsome rob among others) but my latest is 'Gecko'. The little girl Megan I go and spend time with points at the TV during the Geico commercials and says "GEKKO !" and then points to me.. I spose I do kinda sound like him lol.

So I saw this at Big Lots and at first it looked a bit dumb, but then when I made the connection it was a cheap way to go to finish up the back, and Im sure Megan will get a kick out of it smile.gif

So then it was time to mask up the area to be painted, out came the scalpel and tape..
I also cleaned the plate with chemicals to remove any dirt or overspray

You will also notice that these pics are alot more radiant and bright than any before.. I looked at the camera settings today and realised the white balance was on 'flourescant' which made sense.. The last time this camera was used before I got it was at a car show in Phila 2 years back and the guy who gave it to me had it set to that for the lighting lmao.

So now you can actually see the shifting flakes in pics laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Some green..

Bright orange.

Orange into green.

Neutral and shiny smile.gif

Yeah I know owned.gif

Thing is, I have had some really bad days during the build of this car, alot of them lately in succession.. So I needed lifting and man, what better way than to bust out the rims to spur me on.

And it worked perfectly

You'll note that in the back end pics the plate bulbs were hanging out.. Well when I removed the lights they were completely white lol..

Easy fix, just clean off the lenses with steel wool (soap ones) and then put a rectangle mask over, paint black, remove mask and clear. Nice shiny new set smile.gif

The tail is 99% complete now, all that's left is a 6" optix to go below the plate that will light up with the 24" optix behind the mesh and the red strobes in the OEM tinted fogs.

And today I got up early again and finished off the hood vents, repainted and cleared..

Here are the mirrors, done -

One side -

The other side -

I'm not taking any chances, and I dont have to be anywhere til about 7pm so Im gonna let 'em hang out there to bake in this ridiculous sun smile.gif

Cool thing is that when I was out there I noted in my little trashbox the expended can of Kameleon green to blue... Hmm.. Can we squeeze out a little more for the A pillar covers?

Course we f***ing can laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Git R Done !

smile.gif back again lol..

So yesterday was real busy.. First I took of the plastic cowl and repainted it with the wiper arms that looked a bit worse for wear..

And then drove to Art's to finish the paint off.. It came out ok, got a very small run but I can buff that one out.

Art also gave me this - (we painted it black)

And that's going on sometime today before work as the clear was still a bit sticky last night smile.gif

Oh Art I have thought of *another* nickname for the car..

"Art Ha******d's Frank en stein" because there is more of your old tib on there than mine haha.gif

"It. Is . Alive....." smile.gif

(I *'d out your last name, dont worry I didnt post it smile.gif )

Allow me to assist with that frankenstein action in this thread!

I didn't check out this thread earlier because I looked at the title and assumed it was about the movie.
