Thanks Hive smile.gif

The last couple pf weeks have been hard, a real test of my patience and devotion.

EVERYTHING I have done (even the pedals today) has fought me tooth and nail all the way..

Case in point -

I get the rims home, one is damaged and wont stay up.. I knew this but it was stressful.. So I had aload of shit getting that repaired and sealed and re-balanced.

Then I go to fit them, and they dont fit.

With fitting the vents I slipped with the rivet gun twice gauging the paint, so that needed to be fixed. Also 2 of the rivets wont hold so I had to put bolts in.. More messing around !

I had a sag and 3 small runs in the paint.. removing the sag took off the white and it took 4 attempts to get a smooth blow in transition. Then I reversed into an old junker outside work and did more scratches in the rear bumper that then had to be fixed. God I hate the tibs blind spots, Tom said he is going to open my trans and remove reverse LOL.

Then Art wasnt around to paint the car with me, so that didnt get done yet.. Then the rivets for the plate frame and mesh I made kept pulling out of the bumper so I had to use screws.. Honestly its just been one thing after another, nothing has gone as planned and everything has turned into an all day job lol..

Mate, countersink the rivets. Fill the holes. Use body filler around the edges of the vents to make the join seemless. Paint the whole hood, including the vents fing02.gif

Sucks about all the issues. It'll look good with the rims on though.

Btw, what is around the edges on the corners? Electrical tape? If so, I'd remove that. It'll look better without it.

Damn it seems that some bad luck has struck on you. But do not worry after rain comes the sunshine. I am sure that after you finish it will shine. fing02.gif

OZ.
The rivets are somwhat sunk, theyre going to be skimmed over with spot putty and smoothed.. As for smoothing them into the hood? even on the real car that isnt a done thing.

I want tha black parts.. Everyone has said the same about painting them the same color as the hood but I want them to stand out like they do.. Hard to explain really, just personal taste smile.gif

The corners are from Mad Machine's old tib, he got into an accident and the corners were slightly damaged. That isnt tape it's paint, I painted around the edges to hide the mess under there smile.gif was the only thing I could do or they would have looked awful..

I kinda like it, at night they look like a pair of evil eyes laugh.gif

Off topic but compared to my dads 01 Celica, our 1st gen tibs have no blind spots lol.

Back on topic, That looks nice. Those rims will look pretty sweet on there. Nice work.

tbh I think my seats actually create the blind spots.. They ride high, which means the mirrors are lower down and the rear view is hard to adjust.. I must say the asshole whose car I hit shouldnt have parked there because it boxed me in pretty bad.. I was in the corner and he parked offset behind me so it was hard to see his car properly.

I just went out and completely finished taking out any runs or imperfections and smoothing over the repairs.. Roll on saturday ! gonna be a blast down at Art's.. Bit nervous about using this paint gun tho, the good one ended up tossed in the trash and Im not sure how good this one is.. Ah well, only one way to find out hehe..

I also decided that I am going to use a UK Coupe badge on the tailgage right in the middle where the crooked H used to reside.. I am going to paint it black tho.. (badge very generously donated by Art)

I been thinking actually.. My tib has so many parts on it from Art's totalled tib that I think I am going to call it 'Frankenstein.. Allowing dead tibs to stalk the earth once again" lol

Spacers arrive tomorrow, but I have sworn to myself that the rims will not go on until all the bodywork is done.. because I know if I put them on now I wont finish it lol..

That's gonna be christmas day for me smile.gif

i'm not a fan of the vents (too big for me) but i swear you will have one mean bastard of a tib when she's done because you have done alot of custom shit and i comend you sir, are those headlights darkened and if not, i know blackouts are old but with the vents i think it will look pretty good
